Volleyball Recap: Newberry Panthers vs. Chiefland Indians
Newberry was the 3-1 winner over Chiefland when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Newberry Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefland Indians on Saturday.
The final score came out to 25-23, 25-21.
Malana Kennard and Abi Clanton certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Kennard had 14 digs, while Clanton had ten assists. Kennard is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.
Newberry's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Chiefland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newberry will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Interlachen at 6:30 p.m. Interlachen is coming into the game with three straight victories at home, so Newberry will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Chiefland, they will face off against Bell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
