Basketball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Lake Highland Prep Highlanders

Having just played yesterday, The First Academy Royals will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

The First Academy will head into Monday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 23) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Tate out 60-57. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while the Aggies are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lake Highland Prep had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They blew past the Titans 55-27. The Highlanders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

The First Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Lake Highland Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 15-4.

The First Academy couldn't quite finish off Lake Highland Prep in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 55-52. Can The First Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
