It was a proper cat-fight when Los Banos challenged Golden Valley on Tuesday. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cougars, sneaking past 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted against the Cougars since March 10, 2016.

Mya Arista spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Los Banos got a big performance out of Maliyah Salas, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Salas has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Vierra, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

The win made it two in a row for Los Banos and bumps their season record up to 9-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Golden Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Los Banos wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-7 loss against Berkeley on the 24th. As for Golden Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-0 win against Sonora on the 23rd.
