Basketball Game Preview: Calvert Senecas vs. Cardinal Stritch Cardinals

The Calvert Senecas and the Cardinal Stritch Cardinals will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Calvert is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Last Friday, Calvert didn't have too much trouble with Woodmore as they won 59-40.

Calvert can attribute much of their success to Alyssa Rishty, who went 12 of 28 en route to 31 points along with five assists and five boards, and Megan Rombach, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Rishty has scored at least a third of Calvert's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Concepcion, who posted five points and three steals.

Calvert smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cardinal Stritch challenged Bowling Green last Monday. Cardinal Stritch took a hard 44-28 fall against Bowling Green. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Calvert will have to keep a close watch on Morgan Kennedy and Amaya Hill, a pair of players who had a big impact on Cardinal Stritch's prior game. Kennedy had 16 points and five rebounds, while Hill put up eight points and 13 boards. Hill is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Calvert's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Cardinal Stritch, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Calvert strolled past Cardinal Stritch in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 48-30. Does Calvert have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cardinal Stritch turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
