Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Amya Wilson and Jazzlyn Gomez Lead Aztec to Victory

Aztec hadn't done well against Bloomfield recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Aztec Tigers came out on top against the Bloomfield Bobcats by a score of 30-23. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Bobcats back in January, they had to take a 39-34 defeat.

Aztec was led to victory by Jazzlyn Gomez and Amya Wilson. Gomez dropped a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards, while Wilson posted two points and six rebounds. Gomez also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Aztec is 12-6 when she posts at least five steals, but 0-5 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Bloomfield lost, don't look at Delanna Russell. Despite the final result, she earned eight points and ten rebounds. Russell is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Aztec now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Bloomfield, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.
