Football Preview: Tatnall Hornets vs. St. Elizabeth Vikings

The Tatnall Hornets will challenge the St. Elizabeth Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tatnall will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Tatnall is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by DuPont on the road to the tune of 56-6 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won four matches by 27 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Tatnall's victory came down to the chemistry between Quinn De Viere and his top target Gino Greer. De Viere threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing while Greer rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. What's more, De Viere also racked up no rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in November of 2023. Another big playmaker for Tatnall was Chris Gordon, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Tatnall wouldn't let DuPont keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Tatnall can thank Owen Mrozinski and Henry Kirtley for forcing both of them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Elizabeth, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They really took it to Christiana for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 win at home. The high-scoring effort was just what St. Elizabeth needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

St. Elizabeth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jose Maldonado led the charge by picking up 45 receiving yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Nick Mancini, who gained 111 total yards and two touchdowns.

Tatnall's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for St. Elizabeth, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
