Venice's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darryon Jones, who threw for 214 yards and three TDs while completing 81.2% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The Indians also got a significant boost from Dorian 'Macho' Jones, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 104 yards.
Venice didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Layne Kisovic and Irell Dale. Kisovic is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played. Venice got some further help from Brock Hupp: he picked up a sack, made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, West Orange strolled past Plant City with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 45-30.
West Orange's win came from a few key players Venice will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jayden Ammons, who rushed for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Andrew 'AJ' Chung was another key player, rushing for 40 yards and one TD.
West Orange's run defense was locked in: Plant City could only muster 3.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Devonte Anderson for the heroic effort on defense: he. West Orange's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.7.
Venice's record now sits at 7-3. As for West Orange, their record is now 10-1.
