Baseball Recap: Gooding Find Success

It was close, but on Friday the Gooding Senators sidestepped the Salmon Savages for a 5-4 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Senators.

Cougar Stockham made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. Stockham was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cason Page, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Eli Esterbrook was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Gooding's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Salmon, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

Looking ahead, Gooding will challenge Kimberly at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salmon, they are taking a road trip to take on West Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
