Baseball Game Preview: Hudson Bluehawks vs. Taconic Hills Titans

Hudson and Taconic Hills are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bluehawks will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Titans at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Hudson had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Germantown on Monday. The Bluehawks were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Clippers. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bluehawks considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Hudson let Gannon Logue and Ryan Conte run wild. Logue scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Conte scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three hits gave Logue a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Simmons, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Hudson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Germantown only posted an OBP of .190.

Meanwhile, Taconic Hills had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Germantown a 16-0 shutout.

Tristan Super made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Super was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Alvarez, who scored four runs while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Francis Conners-Schmid, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
