Baseball Recap: Seymour Owls vs. New Albany Bulldogs
With a playoff game on the line, Seymour rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the New Albany Bulldogs by a score of 6-1. The win was nothing new for Seymour as they're now sitting on four straight.
Mikey Wright was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Bret Perry, who went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI.
On New Albany's side, Chase Loesch was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Loesch was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI.
Seymour's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for New Albany, their loss dropped their record down to 17-10.
Seymour will face off against Bedford North Lawrence at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Seymour is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season. New Albany does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
