 Cary had to endure  a  four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Holly Springs Golden Hawks  a   2-0 shutout  on Monday. The  victory was just what Cary needed coming off of  an  11-5 defeat in their prior  matchup.
 The result came thanks to  Collins Black's shutout, as he gave up just two  hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Cary saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Gavin Turner, who  went 1-for-2 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 On Holly Springs' side,  Jake Cackovic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks.
 Even though they lost, Holly Springs  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 11  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cary only tossed five.
 Cary's win  ended  a  three-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 8-6. As for Holly Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
 Cary will head out on the road to  take on  Knightdale at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Holly Springs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wakefield at 4:30  p.m.  on Wednesday.
