It was a proper cat-fight when Waskom challenged Leverett's Chapel on Friday. The Waskom Wildcats were the clear victor by an 18-4 margin over the Leverett's Chapel Lions. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

Landon Rogers made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in earned runs. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Waskom let Jaxon Hicks and Jacob Woodward run wild. Hicks scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Woodward scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, Hicks posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bubba Jones, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Waskom always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Waskom's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Leverett's Chapel, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Waskom will face off against Harts Bluff at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Waskom is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Leverett's Chapel, they will challenge Hawkins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
