Baseball Game Preview: Wesley Chapel Wildcats vs. Dunedin Falcons

Wesley Chapel hasn't had much luck against Dunedin recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wesley Chapel Wildcats will head out to challenge the Dunedin Falcons at 6:30 p.m. Wesley Chapel is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Wesley Chapel's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over Mitchell. That looming 6-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Chase Flemming looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Pabon, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Mills Carrillo also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen bases of the season.

Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Dunedin, as they earned their first road win of the season. They walked away with a 6-1 win over Clearwater Central Catholic on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won five in a row.

Dunedin also got a great performance from Cian Roche as he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Roche has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Dunedin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madden James, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Wesley Chapel's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs over those games. As for Dunedin, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
