Softball Recap: La Jolla Country Day Comes Up Short

After flying high against St. Joseph Academy last Tuesday, La Jolla Country Day came back down to earth. The Torreys took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maranatha Christian Eagles on Thursday. The defeat continues a trend for the Torreys in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.

Josephine Criado made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Brooklyn Givens also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

La Jolla Country Day now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Maranatha Christian, they pushed their record up to 5-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Jolla Country Day will host Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Maranatha Christian, they will welcome St. Joseph Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
