Basketball Game Preview: Lovington Wildcats vs. Belen Eagles

The Lovington Wildcats and the Belen Eagles will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Belen is facing Lovington at the wrong time: Lovington suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell to the Tigers 70-64. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 21-16 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Belen ended up a good deal behind Artesia on Friday and lost 72-56. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost four in a row.

Belen's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Lovington, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-5.

Lovington didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Belen in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 73-67 victory.
