Basketball Recap: Candlelight Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Candlelight Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 25-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winter Haven Christian Warriors. The Flames were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 48-44.

Skyler Taylor was Candlelight Christian Academy's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Taylor also led the team in rebounds with 12. Arliss Vargas took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Candlelight Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Winter Haven Christian, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8.

Candlelight Christian Academy and Winter Haven Christian's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Candlelight Christian Academy and Florida College Academy (who has only given up 26.8 points per game) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Winter Haven Christian will face off against Families Instructing Students HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, a squad that's only allowed 28.68 points per game.
