Baseball Game Preview: Magee Trojans vs. Mize Bulldogs

The Magee Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Mize Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Magee's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Mendenhall by a score of 5-0.

The team relied heavily on Jeremiah Cole, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Akavion Griffith, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Mize never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lamar Christian last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions, sneaking past 12-11. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won six in a row.

Garrison Carrell was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Parker Himmel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Magee has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. Mize's record is now 5-2.

Everything went Magee's way against Mize when the teams last played back in April of 2017, as Magee made off with a 13-7 win. Will Magee repeat their success, or does Mize have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
