Baseball Game Preview: Corbett Cardinals vs. Portland Christian Royals

Corbett hasn't had much luck against Portland Christian recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Royals at 1:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Corbett's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Riverside with a sharp 7-0 win.

Meanwhile, Portland Christian hadn't done well against Rainier recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Royals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Columbians. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

The team relied heavily on Donovan Endres, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Joseph Diesel was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Corbett pushed their record up to 2-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Portland Christian, their record is now 2-0.
