Soccer Recap: Fort Payne Comes Up Short

If Fort Payne was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Crossville last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fort Payne Wildcats fell just short of the Gadsden City Titans by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Titans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Baltazar Francisco and Hayden Chambers scored both of Fort Payne's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Fort Payne's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6-2. As for Gadsden City, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fort Payne will venture away from home to face off against Varsity Opponent at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gadsden City, they will head out on the road to challenge Mountain Brook at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gadsden City's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
