Baseball Game Preview: Open Door Christian Patriots vs. Elyria Pioneers

The Open Door Christian Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Elyria Pioneers at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Open Door Christian has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Jacob Godby made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Garrett Fordyce, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elyria). They put the hurt on Fostoria with a sharp 13-3 victory on Saturday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Pioneers with their most commanding win of the season.

Landon Wissinger was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Brayden Barbee also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Elyria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Elyria and bumps their season record up to 3-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Open Door Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
