Baseball Recap: Willowbrook Snags 11th Win in Last 13 Games

Willowbrook owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against the Leyden Eagles by a score of 5-0. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Eagles on Monday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Willowbrook got a great performance from Bobby Biggs as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Biggs has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Willowbrook let Sam Marrese and Alec Ramey run wild. Marrese went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Ramey went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Willowbrook has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Leyden, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-14.

Coming up, Willowbrook will square off against Lincoln-Way West at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln-Way West will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Willowbrook surely won't give up without a fight. As for Leyden, they will head out on the road to take on Niles North at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
