Baseball Game Preview: Jay Mustangs vs. South San Antonio Bobcats

Jay hasn't had much luck against South San Antonio recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Bobcats at 1:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Jay took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Southside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since March 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, South San Antonio fell victim to Southwest and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 11-0 to the Dragons. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bobcats, who until this match were averaging 3.5 runs allowed.

Jay's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for South San Antonio, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.

Jay couldn't quite get it done against South San Antonio when the teams last played back in March as they fell 6-1. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
