Softball Game Preview: Shelby Whippets vs. Highland Fighting Scots

The Shelby Whippets will head out on the road to face off against the Highland Fighting Scots at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Shelby is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Shelby is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Lexington just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Minutemen, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Whippets have suffered since March 29th.

Karlie Walp was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Highland's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Buckeye Valley by a score of 10-8.

Highland's record now sits at 7-4. As for Shelby, the defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 11-4.

Shelby took their victory against Highland when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 19-9 score. Do the Whippets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
