Softball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Grace Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-5 on April 4th.

Brooke Million was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ava Malone made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Grace Christian Academy now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Christian Academy of Knoxville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian Academy will square off against Webb at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rams are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Christian Academy of Knoxville, they will challenge Heritage at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 3.5, the Mountaineers 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
