Hoosier Heartland recap September 17, 2013
Tri-Central's Garrett Kelley recorded the longest rushing play in Hoosier Heartland this season in his game against Clinton Prairie last week. Kelley's team topped the Gophers as he sprinted for 59 yards on the play and finished with 124 in all.
Tri-Central took down Clinton Prairie 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kelley in the win.
Carroll's dynamic duo of Brandon Dillon and Kreed Switzer proved tough for Sheridan to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dillon threw for 137 yards and Switzer had 70 yards receiving. Jaden Reneau helped Carroll's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 44 yards.
The Cougars' dynamic duo of Dillon and Switzer proved to be unstoppable against the Blackhawks, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Dillon put up the best numbers through the air as Carroll fell to Sheridan.
Switzer was the best receiver in the league this week as Steve Keown's team lost to Larry Wright's team.
Kelley was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Cody Colbert added to the ground attack by rushing for 45 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Cody Howell of George Gilbert's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 419. He has also thrown 7 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Switzer. The Carroll star has 14 catches for 268 yards.
An important game coming up in Hoosier Heartland this week will be when Clinton Central takes on the Blackhawks. The Bulldogs are currently in fifth, while Sheridan is in second.
The Blackhawks made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,781 from 7,721. The improvement came about via a 46-13 victory over the Cougars last week.
