Baseball Recap: Eaglecrest Find Success

Eaglecrest got themselves on the board against Mullen on Saturday, but Mullen never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Mustangs. The game was the first time the Raptors have beaten the Mustangs on their field since May 5, 2022.

Cosme Vera tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Braden Elliott was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Eaglecrest's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Tavish Dey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Eaglecrest now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Mullen, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-12.

Coming up, Eaglecrest will square off against Arapahoe at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mullen, they will head out on the road to challenge Lewis-Palmer at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
