Basketball Recap: West Point Sets Scoring Season-High Against Ironwood Ridge

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Point). Everything went their way against the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks on Friday as they made off with a 71-48 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Dragons also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2024.

Ironwood Ridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Derek Overton, who posted 11 points along with seven boards and three steals, and Lucas Anderson, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Landon Briones, who put up two points and six rebounds.

The win got West Point back to even at 2-2. As for Ironwood Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, West Point will welcome Carl Hayden Community at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons' defense better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 66.2 points per game this season. As for Ironwood Ridge, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eastmark at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
