St. David is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Ash Fork/Seligman with a sharp 12-1 win. 12 seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
The team relied heavily on Emelynn Jacquez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Patton, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.
St. David always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Williams made easy work of Anthem Prep on Wednesday and carried off an 11-2 win.
Danika Howe made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Audrina Baldwin was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Sonia Lopez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
St. David has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Williams, their win bumped their record up to 15-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. David has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Williams struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
