Basketball Recap: Poudre Impalas vs. Rocky Mountain Lobos

It was a good run, but the Poudre Impalas unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 55-38 to Rocky Mountain. Poudre was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lobos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Poudre lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kavi Voglund. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Voglund has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaqueline Forrest, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Poudre struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rocky Mountain racked up 14 assists.

Morgen Delap was a one-man wrecking crew for Rocky Mountain as she almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Meela Delap was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three blocks.

Poudre's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Rocky Mountain, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poudre is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Rocky Mountain, they will face off against the Lightning at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Legacy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Lobos are ranked 30th).
