Preview: Girard College Cavaliers vs. Germantown Friends
Girard College has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet Germantown Friends at 1:00 p.m. Hopefully Girard College is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Germantown Friends in Pennsylvania (Girard College is ranked sixth, while Germantown Friends is ranked 343rd).
On Thursday, Girard College didn't have too much trouble with Morrisville on the road as they won 55-38.
Brendan Curtis was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amadu Mansaray, who scored seven points along with six assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Germantown Friends was the victim of a rough 78-52 defeat at the hands of Academy of the New Church on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Germantown Friends in their matchups with Academy of the New Church: they've now lost eight in a row.
Girard College now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Germantown Friends, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Girard College was taken down by Germantown Friends 70-34 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Girard College was down 45-23.
