Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ethan Thyne and Jacob Slade Lead Sterling to Victory

After losing to Highland the last time they met, Sterling decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sterling Tigers came out on top against the Highland Huskies by a score of 62-55 on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Leading Sterling to victory were Jacob Slade and Ethan Thyne. Slade went 9-for-11 on his way to 24 points, while Thyne posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Slade a new career-high in shooting accuracy (82%). Another player making a difference was Dayten DiOrio, who earned six points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Highland lost, don't look at Brogan Palmer. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Palmer is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 54% in the last three games he's played. D'Andre DeHoyos was another key player, putting up ten points.

Sterling's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Highland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-6.

Sterling didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-27 defeat against Yuma on the 1st. As for Highland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 43-36 win against Liberty Common on the 1st.
