Preview: Carthage Tigers vs. Willard Tigers
Carthage is 10-0 against Willard since September of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Carthage Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Willard Tigers at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Missouri (Carthage is ranked 67th, while Willard is ranked 62nd).
Carthage unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They were outmatched by Joplin on the road and fell 49-21.
Meanwhile, Willard's three-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They walked away with a 22-14 victory over Carl Junction.
Willard's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Russell Roweton led the charge by throwing for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
With Carthage's defeat and Willard's win, both teams now sport identical 4-4 records.
Everything went Carthage's way against Willard in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as Carthage made off with a 41-21 win. Does Carthage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Willard turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
