Basketball Recap: Kelliher/Northome Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Kelliher/Northome was the 73-69 winner over Cass Lake-Bena when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Kelliher/Northome Mustangs lost to the Cass Lake-Bena Panthers on the road by a 84-65 margin on Friday.

Kelliher/Northome lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kate Thayer, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Thayer's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Binkley, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards.

Kelliher/Northome's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1. As for Cass Lake-Bena, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Kelliher/Northome will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Blackduck at 7:15 p.m. on December 17th. As for Cass Lake-Bena, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 89-43 victory against Clearbrook-Gonvick on the 12th.
