Baseball Game Preview: Okawville Rockets vs. Valmeyer Pirates

Okawville is 1-6 against Valmeyer since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Okawville will face off against Valmeyer at 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Okawville's offense. They came up short against Trico on Tuesday, falling 6-0. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Valmeyer entered their tilt with Cahokia on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Comanches 19-0. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Luke Blackwell was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Rau, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Valmeyer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Okawville now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Valmeyer, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Okawville came up short against Valmeyer when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 11-6. Can Okawville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
