Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Ashbrook

Ashbrook won the last time they faced Forestview, and Jakyra Sadler did her part to make sure it happened again. The Ashbrook Greenwave enjoyed a cozy 66-52 victory over the Forestview Jaguars on Friday thanks in part to Sadler, who posted 24 points along with seven boards and six assists. The match was her fourth in a row with at least 17 points.

Another player making a difference was AriAnnA Mcdowell, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 38 times she's played.

Sa'Ryah McCorkle and Miangel Thompson certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. McCorkle dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds, while Thompson scored 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave McCorkle a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Forgan, who earned four points and six boards.

The win (which was Ashbrook's third in a row) raised their record to 9-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points over those games. As for Forestview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Ashbrook has already played their next game, a 74-30 victory against North Gaston on the 11th. As for Forestview, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kings Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kings Mountain has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
