Frontier hasn't had much luck against Rossville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Frontier Falcons will face off against the Rossville Hornets at 6:00 p.m.
Frontier is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against North White on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Frontier lost 38-17 to North White. The Falcons were down 35-15 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Ashlyn Minniear was Frontier's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Madyson Mears held things down on the boards with 12 rebounds. Kendall Bridwell took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rossville). They were the clear victor by a 62-38 margin over Tipton on Thursday.
Frontier better keep an eye on Ava Burkle. She was instrumental in Rossville's win, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Burkle has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last seven times she's played. Chloe Darnell was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 13 points.
Rossville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.
This is the second loss in a row for Frontier and nudges their season record down to 2-20. As for Rossville, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Frontier has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Rossville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Frontier came up short against Rossville in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 48-37. Can Frontier avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
