Basketball Recap: Cullen Marti's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coahulla Creek over Rockmart

Coahulla Creek was the 89-74 winner over Rockmart when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Coahulla Creek Colts fell just short of the Rockmart Yellowjackets by a score of 62-59 on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Colts came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 430th).

Coahulla Creek's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cullen Marti, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. Marti is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 18 games he's played dating back to last season. Gage Voyles was another key player, going 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Coahulla Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.

Coahulla Creek's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Rockmart, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-13.

Coahulla Creek has already played their next contest, a 64-60 loss against Signal Mountain on the 16th. As for Rockmart, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 88-54 defeat against North Cobb Christian on the 17th.
