Baseball Recap: Mount Pleasant's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Mount Pleasant and Union Academy have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Tigers walked away with a 6-3 win over the Cardinals. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gavin Norris looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mount Pleasant got a big performance out of Maddox Harwood, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gabe Shackelford, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Mount Pleasant's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-6. As for Union Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mount Pleasant beat the Cardinals by a score of 6-2 on Friday.
