Baseball Recap: Cape Coral Comes Up Short

Cape Coral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 9-5 to the Ida Baker Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in February.

Derek Hooker was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Cape Coral: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryan Marks, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Cape Coral's record is now 5-13. As for Ida Baker, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Coral will face off against Mariner at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ida Baker, they will square off against the Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
