Soccer Game Preview: Wheaton Academy vs. Marian Central Catholic

The Wheaton Academy Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Wheaton Academy's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Bishop McNamara. With that victory, Wheaton Academy brought their scoring average up to 2.7 goals per game.

They hit Bishop McNamara with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gianna Hughes (3), Alaina Tran, Annika Vandervelde, and Portia Noensie.

Meanwhile, Marian Central Catholic made easy work of St. Edward on Tuesday and carried off a 4-0 win.

Wheaton Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four games. As for Marian Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 2-5-1.

Wheaton Academy beat Marian Central Catholic 2-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
