Recap: Mayer Wildcats vs. Chino Valley Cougars
The Mayer Wildcats lost against the Chino Valley Cougars back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Mayer took a 39-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chino Valley. Mayer has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Mayer still got an impressive performance from Danni McCann, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. McCann scored a full 60.7% of Mayer's points, the 17th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mayer has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8-1 record this season. As for Chino Valley, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mayer will take on North Phoenix Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chino Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Fountain Hills at 5:30 p.m. Fountain Hills will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
