Softball Recap: Bernards Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Delaware Valley, Bernards was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Ridge Red Devil. The Mountaineers haven't had any issues with the Red Devil recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Gabby Mongo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gracie Mongno was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Christina DePierro, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

The win got Bernards back to even at 10-10. As for Ridge, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-9.

Coming up, Bernards will host Montgomery at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mountaineers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Ridge, they will take on Brearley at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Red Devil's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
