Basketball Recap: Weeping Water Sets Scoring Season-High Against Falls City

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Weeping Water). They blew past the Falls City Tigers 60-35 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Indians have posted since February 12th.

It was another big night for Gus McGill, who dropped a triple-double on 31 points, 19 rebounds, and ten steals. McGill is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Landon Fulton, who posted 17 points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Weeping Water smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

Falls City lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brock Caudle, who had seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keifer Adams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards.

Weeping Water's record is now 3-4. As for Falls City, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weeping Water will square off against Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southern has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Falls City, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nebraska City at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
