Softball Game Preview: Freedom Area Bulldogs vs. Neshannock Lancers

Freedom Area hasn't had much luck against Neshannock recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Lancers at 5:00 p.m. Freedom Area has given up an average of 19.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Freedom Area is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to Burgettstown. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Meanwhile, Neshannock strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Everything went their way against Laurel as they made off with a 14-4 win. The Lancers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Neshannock pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Freedom Area, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Freedom Area suffered a grim 17-0 defeat to Neshannock when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
