Softball Game Preview: Tahquitz Titans vs. West Valley Mustangs

Tahquitz is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will welcome the West Valley Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. Tahquitz is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Tahquitz fell victim to Liberty and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 12-0 to the Bison. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Meanwhile, West Valley can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past Perris 21-10. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

West Valley got a massive performance out of Destiny Ioane, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Violet Fisher was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

West Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

West Valley's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Tahquitz, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-5.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Tahquitz hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like West Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .419. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Tahquitz took their victory against West Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 21-0. Will Tahquitz repeat their success, or does West Valley has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
