Volleyball Recap: Chaparral Falls Short Against Ranked Basic

Chaparral faced Basic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cowboys took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves.

Chaparral lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jordan Pierce, who had six kills, six digs, and one block. He is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had five or more in each of the last 50 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Bade, who had eight assists and one block.

Chaparral has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. As for Basic, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-8.
