Basketball Recap: Dove Creek Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dove Creek). They secured a 66-61 W over the De Beque Dragons on Friday. While the Bulldogs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Dove Creek was led to victory by Josh Kibel and Sheldon Gardner. Kibel posted 16 points, while Gardner had 16 points. The dominant performance gave Kibel a new career-high in points. Liam Hassell was another key player, putting up ten points.

The victory (which was Dove Creek's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1. As for De Beque, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1.

Dove Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ouray at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ouray knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Dove Creek likes a good challenge. As for De Beque, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Rangely at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
