Recap: Lewis County Lions vs. Russell Red Devils

The Lewis County Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 57-49 to Russell. If Lewis County hoped to take revenge for the 54-52 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Russell found their leader in underclassman Elijah Neel, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Fleming, who scored 11 points.

Lewis County's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-9. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Russell, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis County will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Greenup County at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. As for Russell, they will square off against Elliott County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
