Baseball Recap: Calais Takes Down Orono in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Calais had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Orono Riots by a score of 6-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Noah White was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Calais is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-6 otherwise. White was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

White wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Parker Cole, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Calais' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Orono, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-10.

Coming up, Calais will challenge Washington Academy on Thursday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Blue Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Orono does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
