Baseball Recap: New Albany Sets Scoring Season-High Against North Pontotoc

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Albany). They were the clear victors by a 19-13 margin over the North Pontotoc Vikings on Friday. Considering the Bulldogs have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Connor Yarbrough was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Darion Jackson was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

New Albany has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. North Pontotoc now has a losing record of 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Albany will head out to challenge Tishomingo County at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tishomingo County will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something New Albany surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Pontotoc, they will head out on the road to take on West Union at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
